Loaded Words

Every word has a field of meaning which conveys our thoughts, to some degree of accuracy, to those with whom we are speaking. However, you and I both know that some words are LOADED. You hear the word and your pulse immediately increases. Your palms begin to sweat a little at the thought of discussing this word. Some people are totally turned on and others are totally turned off.

Those are the words of the "Loaded Words" small group Bible study series. Each study takes a look at a loaded word (or phrase) from the Biblical angle and gives the participants a chance to engage in peaceful discussion illuminated by the scriptures.

As you participate in these studies, remember the rules of loving group discussion:

1. Use "I" statements, not "you" statements.
2. Let each person finish their thought uninterrupted
3. Speak concisely so others have a chance to share their thoughts.
4. Share without expecting others to agree with you.
5. If you don't undestand what someone is saying, seek clarification.
6. It is always ok to just listen quietly if you don't feel like talking.
